Evaluation of First Rough Cut
After watching our first rough cut, it was very easy to pick out the strengths and weaknesses of our piece. The animation throughout the video is very strong, and work really well. They add another dimension to the video. We asked a couple of people in the class to watch it and they said the animation was exciting and a clever element in the video. The cuts of our band throughout the video are also very good cuts and they work really well with in the video. They also commented on the ‘love’ toast and heart shaped egg, they said that all the little clues of love through out the video really help to create the whole theme of love. We have used cuts which show the band in different positions which creates contrast. For the “woah, woah, woah” parts in the song, we have cut to different close ups of the band members, which did take some time in editing but it was worth it and I am really happy with the out come.
The only animation that needs some work on is when our lead singer of the band, Jack, is turning the oranges into juice. After throwing the oranges into the glass, he looks into the camera, and it looks very awkward, so we have decided to cut that out, and just see his hand rising and then hitting the glass to create juice. Another thing we are changing is when we first hear and see Mimi, our lead female singer. She just appears which looks very odd, so we are going to create a split screen between all the band members, and then have Mimi pushing them out the way. We are also going to use a split screen when Mimi and Jack are singing together. One more thing we are going to change is the high angle shots of Mimi when she is singing, they give the impression that she is trapped and doesn’t look very happy at all!

Evaluation of the shoot day
Our shoot was on the Wednesday, but on the Tuesday night we started getting our set ready, we had painted most of our boards with pink hearts but had to finish the rest on the Wednesday morning.
We started at 9am and our team and our protagonists arrived on time. after finishing painting our white boards, we got on with the shooting! Scott and Carl, were setting up the lighting, whilst we got the band comfortable with the song and playing the guitar in front of the camera. As soon as the lighting was ready, we set the band up and starting filming. At first the band members were quite nervous but soon got into things. We shot the band from different angles and doing a range of close ups and wide shots. We wanted to be done in the studio by 11 o'clock, and even though things went pretty smoothly, we finished by mid-day. We packed up the cameras, and some lights and headed to my house, which was a 30 minute drive away. We had Matt and Luke with us to help with camera and lighting, and as soon as we got to my house, starting setting up. Due to our protagonist, Jack, making breakfast, we had to be be aware of the light outside, because we needed it to look like it was morning. Shooting the animation was a bit more tricky and time consuming due to us having to change the lights all the time and the camera but with the help of Matt and Luke, we did it in good time. We stopped for lunch for 20 minutes and then got straight back into filming. We finished in the kitchen by about 3.30pm and went up to the bedroom. We had to bring all the lights up stairs, and the camera's, and after we had set up, we were done within 40 minutes.
I believe the day went well! We didn't have to rush anything and we got everything we needed. Whilst filming we added in a lot of things that we didn't plan on doing but it all worked really well. Both our protagonist, Jack and Mimi, did everything we asked them do to, and also helps us out alot.
I am now looking forward to seeing the final product!

feedback:
we no longer have the concert element, we will see the band playing in the studio. We are going to have only movement in the kitchen and when the band are playing in the studio, the rest is going to be shown through pictures. Everything is going to happen in the kitchen and towards the end up to the bedroom.

Costume ideas
CD digipack idea
This is our idea for the CD digipack. We thought for the inside right of the CD we would use a picture of every member of the group and put them into the various corners.
The back of the CD would be two hands who are holding a big pink paperheart in the middle of the cover and above it would be the title of the single: 'Young Love'.
The left side of the inside could be a picture of the empty stage with the microphones, drums and guitar left in the room.
The last picture of the digipack could be the band itself, the three boys standing in a kind of 'circle' and the girl would be kneeling in front of them.
