research of films.

Once we had established the sequence of shots, we moved to the storyboarding process. The necessity of storyboarding roots from the convenience in production and post-production. We as a group divided up the shots to be translated into storyboard means, and represent in more visual terms our necessities of production and construction. We have to outline all details of each shot to ensure that everyone within production is on board with the concepts and production we are producing.

The story board is presented as follows:

We had the chance to shoot our actress Pip running, from panning in the mini bus. I'm glad we did this as it looks a lot better then having a hand held camera running besides her and looks a lot more professional.

This is a view of the room we used. As you can see we had one light down to the right and we has one window of natural light and that is all we needed.
We have our actress Pip, sitting in the midle tied up and our other actors Adam and Edwaud, standing up infront of her.

Shoot Day

Our shooting day, I felt ran smoothly and went pretty well! The day of the shoot, we had pretty much everything ready. We just needed to grab last bits, like the fake blood and equipment before we went off campus. The equipment we used was a camera and tripod, we used the mini bus to pan a shot of our actress Pip running, and we had fake blood, household tools, one light and the boot of a car. All that we had planned before hand went well, obviously things changed but we fulfilled all of the tasks in the one-day. We only had a few changes, it was more of experimenting with different camera angles, and trying out panning, using different tools, and we didn’t plan on just using one light, we had a bit of natural light and one light in the right hand corner. It didn’t disrupt our day at all, we had all day and we were sticking to our timing, so we had time to experiment with different effects and I’m glad we did, as some of the shots which we were experimenting with are really good. When we tried the panning in the mini bus, it looked really effective and I felt brought a more professional insight to the piece. Having time to use different tools in the torture sequence means that the scene will look extra brutal which is exactly what we want. Our torture scene went really well, Pip our actress worked with us, and any suggestions we had she would go ahead with and try her best. If we had the chance to do the day again I would have maybe taken some time before the day to work out with the group, exactly what tools we would use and how, because quite a lot of time was taken up by us discussing how we are going to use the tools, and gathering bits, like fake nails to make it look as real as possible. I really enjoyed the day and I also enjoyed the lead up to it; having to plan an idea, picking actors and choosing props. Where we filmed it, at our Media teacher’s house was a perfect location. It was close to school, and the room already had the right look and as it was a work shop, there were tools available for us to use. Once we had finished, I was very pleased and felt the day had gone successfully and can’t wait to see it after it has been edited.

The first task in our folder that we felt it necessary to approach was the Task Allocations list to make sure that everyone was aware of thier roles and the groups expectations of each other.

We all assessed our character traits of each other and from there suggested suitable roles for each other with in our work. We found it necessary to take into account the charactaristics of each member, and we allocated the roles accordingly. In doing so we were faced with some difficulties, however after overcoming them the cohesiveness of our group started to become more apparent and our work started to become more solidly sustainable.

Due to the prevailence of dramatic beating within our piece the props that we had were the key to ensuring realism and assuring that our shots looked believable.
We made our final decisions based on our story board;
  1. An Ipod
  2. Rope
  3. Duct Tape
  4. Gloves
  5. A Car
  6. A Chair
  7. Power Tools
  8. A Table
  9. A Table cloth
  10. Fake blood
  11. Kitchen Knifes

equipment list

The equitment list was confirmed entirely by the production supervisor who assited us with our shoot. He talked us thoroughly through the production day and I listed the necessities that were required to fulfill our story board. We also created this document to have a form of a check list for our shooting day to ensure we do not leave essential pieces of equiptment behind, in doing this we also saved ourselves from wasting time having to return to school to pick up left equitment.
